3 Summer festivals in Chelmsford

Published by Harj Grewal

Some of the most famous festivals take place in the UK over summertime. From the Isle of Wight and Bestival, to the King of all festivals, Glastonbury, there’s barely a summer weekend in Britain when music doesn’t sound out from somewhere.

In Chelmsford, we’re not immune from the festival bug either, with a local programme of music, arts and entertainment to enjoy throughout the summer months – perfect for guests of the Atlantic Hotel Chelmsford to check out during their stay.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three summer festivals taking place in Chelmsford during July 2019

Fling Festival

Returning for another year; Fling Festival takes place at Hylands Park on Saturday 6th July, offering a line-up of music, comedy, arts and amusements, that promises a ‘unique experience and good vibes’. There’s DJ sets and a silent disco, alongside space hopper racing, wellbeing activities, street food, a vintage fair and lots more besides. You can see the full 2019 line-up here, while tickets can be purchased in advance from eventbrite by clicking this link.

3foot People Festival

From July 2nd – 4th Hylands Park in Chelmsford will play host to yet another local festival, the 3foot People Festival, a family-friendly festival with tons of activities for little ones to get involved in. You can start planning your day ahead of time using this handy activities programme provided by the festival in association with Chelmsford City Council. There’s also a handpicked selection of child-friendly caterers in the “Grub’s Up Zone” serving kids-sized food portions, with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options available. Tickets available here.

Dixie Fields

Named by The Telegraph newspaper as one of Britain’s 50 best music festivals, Dixie fields comes to Chelmsford, Essex on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th July. The festival is a celebration of country music, with a line-up of artists performing throughout the two day programme, alongside an open air cinema, American BBQ food offer, campfires and line dancing, to keep festival goers entertained. You can buy your tickets from the official Dixie Fields website here.
