4 outdoor events in Chelmsford this September

Published by Harj Grewal

While the summer heat wave is officially over, weather forecasters are predicting a warmer than average September in Britain. Which is great news if you’re visiting Chelmsford this month, as we’ve identified four fantastic outdoor events taking place in around the city.

  1. Cycle for Life

Cycling enthusiasts will be able to indulge their passion and do their bit for a good cause, by taking part in the city’s Cycle for Life on Sunday 16th September, which raises money for Farleigh Hospice. With 3 scenic routes to choose from, all of which take in Essex’s picturesque countryside, the 8am-2pm event is a great way to see more of the county. All while raising essential funds to support Farleigh Hospice’s continued good work.

  1. Anglia Ruskin University Summer Fete

Kicking off from 10am until 2.30pm on Anglia Ruskin’s Chelmsford campus, this ‘Last of the summer sun’ fete offers a host of fun and feel-good activities to take part in. From crazy golf, and a traditional coconut shy to giant garden games and beach volleyball. There’ll also be a free BBQ as well as live music throughout the day to entertain visitors. Together with festival glitter paint and a hay bale chill out zone.

  1. Prosecco, Gin & Dance

With early bird tickets already sold out this celebration of prosecco, gin, dancing and Italian street food is proving to be a hot ticket in Chelmsford. Taking place in Admirals Park on Saturday 29th September, the event also promises celebrity guests to help get the party started, as well as an appearance from Channel 4’s First Dates’ favourite Frenchman Fred Sirieix! Who’ll be personally on hand to meet, greet, and serve drinks. While the afternoon’s agenda also includes a DJ set from Radio 1 host Scott Mills.

  1. Chelmsford Comedy Festival

Also in Admirals Park, the UK comedy festival is coming to Chelmsford on Friday 28th September, with a stand-up performance from rapper and comedian Doc Brown. You won’t have to worry about this one being a washout if it rains though, as a purpose built auditorium is being erected in the park to ensure the event goes ahead no matter what the weather does. Doc’s unique mix of rap and comedy is a fan favourite, and the perfect way to ease you into the weekend with a smile on your face.

So with 4 great events happening right here on our doorstep in September, it seems Chelmsford is the place to be this month for fun, laughs and free food! If you’re planning on visiting any of the above attractions from out of town (or just fancy a night away from the kids) check out the availability we have at The Atlantic Hotel and book a stay with us.
