Our family rooms, with upstairs double bed, ensuite bathroom and split-level living, are ideal for parents traveling with children in tow. And if you’re wondering how you’ll keep everyone entertained during those long, hot, summer days in the city, here are just a couple of the events and attractions Chelmsford has to offer this August.
Ok, so a history tour in the summer holidays might not immediately have the kids jumping for joy, but this is a glimpse back in time delivered with a difference – superhero guides! Yes, History Hackers at Chelmsford Museum will see real life superheroes tell Chelmsford’s history through the ages, with interactive exhibits and the chance to encounter some walking, talking, historical figures, such as Henry VIII. Best of all, its all free.
Now in its 25th year, The Essex Police museum charts the story of policing crime in Essex, from the Victorian era right through to modern day. If you have a budding PC in your family, this place is sure to spark their interest and imagination. You can step inside a recreation of an authentic Victorian jail cell, have your fingerprints processed and try on real police uniforms. Not to mention there’s a host of additional activities taking place on weekends throughout August especially for young visitors on school holiday.
This is an activity that all the family can really sink their teeth into, and one that older children in particular will enjoy. A top Chelmsford experience (as voter by Trip Advisor users), Chelmsford Escape Rooms offers a choice of themed interactive experiences, all requiring you to work as a team to solve a series of clues and puzzles to make your escape from a locked room. You’ll have 60 minutes in which to break free, so thinking caps are required for this one!
